First Foray into the world of biological farming and blogging

This is a blog to show an experiment we are running in a field called Small Tustins.
We are attempting to grow a crop of winter wheat; variety Xi19 using a biological/ nutritional approach .
In other words we will try to grow a commercial crop of wheat without the use of most of modern chemicals and will replace them with nutrition. Working on the basic premis that a healthy crop will ward off most diseases, this is not a "We are going organic, look how clever we are" blog .

We will use glyphosate , the odd insecticide and fertiliser , but we will also use clovers, cover crops and lots of nutients .
The Field is 8 ha and i will endeavour to put up its analysis later .

But to start with;

The crop of spring beans was harvested 4th September yielding approx 4t/ha ,
The stubbles were sprayed off with 2lha glyphosate and sparkler

10/9/09 Sumo trio legs depth 20cm,

9/10/09 Winter oats spread on at approx 180 kg/ha
