Adding a little bit more

Put the second lot of nutrition on today it consisted of the following
2 l/ha of AM1009 which is A multi-mineral formulation containing 176g/l Potassium, 218g/l Phosphorus, 16.3g/l Manganese & 27.8 g/l Zinc essential amino acids, auxins, betaines, & a range of organic chelating agents.

And 2 lha of Microboost extra which is A Nitrogen-free multi-mineral formulation containing Manganese 78 g/l, Zinc 30.4 g/l, Copper 7.3 g/l, Sulphur 117.5 g/l and a trace of Boron.

And 25 l/ha of liquid UAN which is 28% Nitrogen giving approx 9kg/ha of N.

The trefoil is just beginning to take and looking good, the wheat is flying , we do however have some weeds coming this is where all my good intentions could go for a burton .

I will endeavour to put some photographs up tomorrow.

  1. Hi Mark, Just stumbled upon your blog - nice work! Just wondering how came to the decision to apply those particular nutrients/products? 'Precision nutrition' is an ideal strategy for biological farmers to optimize production by supplying exactly and only the nutrients that the plant actually requires! Ideally, a leaf analysis will answer this question for you (or the use of in-field meters such as refractometers or sap pH meters can also be of help). The £40-odd for a leaf tests sometimes seems like 'just another expense' but if you factor in the cost saving of applying the precise nutrients the plant requires over many hectares the savings very soon stack up! All the best for this season!

  3. Melissa , we took some soil tests, CEC and from that we are applying some of the nutrition , i could lie and say it was all my idea , but i have an adviser who recommended several products to apply to keep wheat healthy , i have a refractometer and to be honest was intending to use it later on in season , part of my strategy was to use a leaf test ,Thank you for your interest . mark
